Career in calligraphy

Calligraphy today finds increasingly diverse applications. These include graphic design, logo design, type design, paintings, maps, menus, greeting cards, invitations, legal documents, diplomas, cut stone inscriptions, ceramics, memorial documents, props and moving images for film and television, business cards, and handmade presentations. Many calligraphers make their livelihood in the addressing of envelopes and invitations for public and private events including wedding stationery. Many take up the propagation of the art through teaching. Children and adults have access to the learning of the art via classes and instruction books. Today we also see that calligraphy has been used in some never before mediums like interiors, wedding displays, umbrellas, fashion & body art. (Not just tattoos) In India calligraphy has now emerged as an important art form. It has reached common households through hobby classes & summer activity workshops. People are slowly recognizing the multiple applicability of calligraphy in their lives.
